Care of copper jewelry:

Copper will naturally oxidize, which means it will darken. Some prefer the oxidized look, while others prefer a bright and shiny look. If your jewelry has darkened, a piece of soft steel wool can be used to buff it back to a bright shine. Avoid buffing the ear wires or any of the patina.

Care of patinated jewelry:

Our blue and green patina is sprayed with a sealant to preserve it. However, we have noticed that in very humid environments, the patina acts like a living organism and increases the oxidization of the copper parts of the jewelry. Care should be taken to avoid excessive humidity. We pack each piece with anti-tarnish paper.

Care of gold-plated copper jewelry:

Our Golide collection is 18k gold plated. Electroplating applies a thin layer of gold, about 1 micron thick. With constant wear, it should last up to one year. With good care, it should last far longer. Plated jewelry should not be worn in the shower or left in an excessively humid environment.

Kupanga Global will replace any defective product if notified upon receipt of the goods. Send us an email with a photo of your product if something slipped through our inspection process and you were shipped something that is not up to standard.

Please note that our products are all handmade and not machine made. There will be variations in appearance from one piece to another, which is the beauty of handmade! The individuality of each maker is reflected in their work.

Our copper jewelry is made from upcycled copper hot water heaters from the Rhodesian era. The inside of these old geysers, as they are called here in Zambia, are pitted and marred from decades of corrosion and mineral accumulation. While we do our best to clean them up, our look is very rustic and natural. Don’t expect a machine-made product.

The solder we use for our rings and hoops is created for copper but it doesn’t have a copper color. Expect that the joins will be visible. We have a rustic and organic look!
